Fempower Dance Co Student Code of Conduct

At Fempower Dance Co, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all our students. To ensure a positive and empowering experience for everyone, we expect all students to adhere to the following code of conduct:

1. Respect and Inclusivity:

a) Treat all fellow students, instructors, and staff with respect and kindness, regardless of their age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, or any other characteristic.

b) Embrace and celebrate diversity. We welcome students from all backgrounds and identities.

2. Studio Etiquette:

a) Rumours and Gossip: Avoid spreading rumours or engaging in negative gossip about instructors, staff, or fellow students. Such behaviour can create a toxic atmosphere and harm the sense of community we aim to foster.

b) Attitude: Maintain a supportive attitude during class. Encourage your peers and show respect for your instructors. Critique should be constructive and respectful, focusing on matters specifically related to dancing, and not anything personal.

c) Report to Fempower Staff: If you have concerns about an instructor or another student’s behaviour, notify your instructor and/or director Tiff Gladwin as soon as possible.

3. Punctuality:

a) Arrive on time for your classes and rehearsals. Latecomers can disrupt the flow and learning experience for others.

b) If you are going to be more than 10 minutes late to your class, please contact your instructor to advise them.

c) Instructors reserve the right to exclude students from classes if they are more than 10 minutes late due to missing the circle and/or warm up portions of the class.

4. Attire:

a) Wear comfortable clothing suitable for the style of dance of your class.

b) If your shoes are black soled or similar, please be advised that you are responsible for cleaning marks off of the studio floor. Please see our friendly staff for cleaning materials at the end of the class, and advise us if the floor is left wet after cleaning.

5. Personal Hygiene:

a) Maintain good personal hygiene and wear clean dancewear to each class. This respects the well-being and comfort of all participants.

b) Feminine and masculine aerosol deodorants as well as a feminine body spray can be found on the desk at the front of the studio. These are for communal use and are available for all students.

c) Ensure aerosol deodorants and perfumes are sprayed outside of the studio to minimise the effects on those with respiratory issues such as asthma.

6. Fempower Group Chat

a) The group chat serves a social and community-building purpose within Fempower Dance Co. Please adhere to this Code of Conduct while using it.

b) Messages related to non-Fempower related events, businesses, etc. without prior permission from Tiff Gladwin will be deleted and a warning issued.

c) A second warning for any misconduct will result in removal from the Group Chat.

7. Communication:

a) Communicate with your instructors and fellow students in a respectful and open manner.

b) Address any concerns or issues privately and constructively.

c) Seek resolution support from Fempower staff if necessary.

d) Please do not contact Fempower staff directly on social media unless it is to notify them of you being late to class. Send any other messages to the Fempower business page, or reach out to Tiff via phone on 0414407135.

8. Confidentiality:

a) Respect the privacy of your fellow students. What is shared in Fempower spaces, including the studio, public events, and Group Chat, should remain confidential.

b) Any photos or videos taken within the Fempower studio should be checked to ensure all identifiable parties have consented to be in the photo/video.

9. Safety:

a) Prioritise safety at all times. Follow instructions from your instructors and avoid actions that could cause harm to yourself or others.

b) Report any possible threats to safety immediately to Fempower staff.

c) Ensure you bring necessary equipment to class, including knee pads, sweat towel, pole grip, water bottle, etc.

d) Ensure you are well hydrated with water during classes.

10. Personal Space:

a) Respect personal space and physical boundaries of your fellow students. Dancing often requires close contact, but it should always be consensual and respectful.

12. Use of Studio Facilities:

a) Treat studio facilities, equipment, and props with care and respect. Report any damage or issues to Fempower staff.

13. Personal Belongings:

a) Store your personal belongings in designated areas and do not leave valuables unattended. Fempower Dance Co is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

14. Payment and Attendance:

a) Pay class fees on time as agreed upon in your registration.

b) Contact Fempower Dance Co to arrange payment extensions or payment plans.

a) Most importantly, have fun, embrace your power, and empower others through your dance.

Failure to adhere to this code of conduct may result in warnings, suspension, or expulsion from Fempower Dance Co, as determined by Fempower management.

Thank you for being a part of our vibrant dance community, and let's continue to inspire and uplift each other through the power of dance!
